Two local businesses are fund-raising in honor of Martha Harris, proprietor of Martha E. Harris Flowers & Gifts in Madison Park, who died Oct. 5 after a long battle with cancer.
Through the end of the year, Madrona-based Glassybaby is donating 10 percent from each sale of its “Love Grows” set (“Lavender” and “Sweet Pea”) to the Martha E. Harris Fund at Swedish Medical Center Foundation, which supports special projects at the Swedish Cancer Institute. The set is available through Glassybaby’s website (www.glassybaby.com), at the headquarters store (3406 E. Union St.) and at Martha E. Harris Flowers & Gifts (4218 E. Madison St.)
Glassbaby founder Lee Rhodes, who lives in Washington Park, is a three-time cancer survivor.
Cactus, 4220 E. Madison St., is offering “Martharita” on the Southwestern restaurant’s feature menu through Nov. 14. It will donate $1 to her memorial at Swedish Medical Center for each order.
Cactus owner Bret Chatalis describes the Martharita as “blanco tequila, lime, agave and Alize passion fruit liqueur — served up with Martha style.”
