The Colonial Dames of Washington will host winning projects from middle and high school students from around the state for Washington State History Day at Pioneer Hall in Madison Park on Sunday, July 8.

Each student project was thoroughly researched and created around this year’s theme, “Conflict and Compromise in History.”

Students go through regional and state competitions, with about 50 state winners going on to compete at the national level in Washington, D.C.

“Participants not only become engaged in history, but they also develop valuable lifelong skills in research, organization, presentation and public speaking,” according to a news release from the Colonial Dames of Washington.

A display of a number of these projects will be viewable during the Washington State History Day open house 2-4 p.m. July 8 at Pioneer Hall, 1642 43rd Ave. E.
