In early August, as athletes from around the world gather in London for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, Madison Park’s Paul Mullally will join a group of selected international artists for Olympic Fine Arts 2012.

Mullally submitted his “Alaska Bound–Triumph of Spirit” oil painting, depicting a scene from Fishermen’s Terminal, home to the Alaskan fishing fleet, because he said it exemplifies the Olympic theme.

“To me, fishing in the Arctic expresses what it means to have unity of spirit in pursuit of a common goal. The beauty of nature, in all of its forms — along with an atmosphere of fair competition and common purpose — are at the heart of the Arctic fishing profession,” he said. “Observing Arctic fishing, it’s clear to see how solidarity and unity are necessary to achieve progress.”

Sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee and sponsored by the People’s Republic of China, the Olympic Fine Arts 2012 exhibition will take place at the Museum of London from Wednesday, Aug. 1, through Tuesday, Aug. 7.
