Seattle Police are investigating the deaths of a couple found inside their apartment at Parkshore senior living community in Madison Park on Wednesday, July 10, as a murder/suicide.

SPD Detective Mark Jamieson says officers responded to Parkshore shortly before 1 p.m. July 10, following a 911 report from staff.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office reports 84-year-old Bylieu Badgley’s death as a homicide, and that she was killed by a gunshot wound to the head. Her husband, retired attorney Don Badgley, 85, also died from a handgun wound to the head, and his death was classified as a suicide.

Jamieson confirmed both individuals were found in the same 10th-floor apartment.

Parkshore resident Dr. Kenneth Roberts identified the victims on July 10, but MPT waited for official confirmation.

He said the husband had not shown up for breakfast in the last few days. He added that’s not uncommon. Roberts has lived at Parkshore for 11 years, and he said the Badgleys had lived there for several years.
