George William Waterbury

George William Waterbury, 81, a resident of The Dalles, Ore., passed away at a local care facility on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
Mr. Waterbury was born on Feb. 25, 1927 to William Henry and Ethel M. (Bennett) Waterbury in Toledo, Ore. where he was raised and graduated from high school.
Mr. Waterbury joined the U.S. Navy following high school, serving duty across the Pacific Ocean. After the Navy, he attended Linfield College in McMinnville, Ore., where he met his wife, Jean Ellen Rogen. They were married in Lincoln City, Oregon in 1950. Mr. Waterbury worked as a salesman for a carpet and upholstery cleaning company in the Salem and Seattle areas.
The couple moved to The Dalles 10 years ago to be closer to Mr. Waterbury's son, Jay Waterbury and his family.
Mr. Waterbury enjoyed fishing, camping and whittling and was a member of the Lutheran church.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Waterbury of The Dalles; his five sons, Jay Waterbury (Vicky) of The Dalles, Scott Waterbury of Snohomish, Mike Waterbury (Erin) of Snohomish, Mark Waterbury of Glacier, Wash., and Jim Waterbury (Karla) of Newberg, Oregon; his daughter, Jill Averett of Marysville, Calif.; his grandchildren, Haley, Tessa, Andrea, Zachary, Whitney, William, Wyatt, Gabrielle, Christian and Aidan, and a great grandson, Thatcher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Don and sisters, Doris, Ellen and Catherine. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Private cremation was held at Win-Quatt Crematory in The Dalles with Spencer, Libby & Powell in care of arrangements.[[In-content Ad]]
