Two students hailing from Queen Anne and Magnolia neighborhoods were recognized by Hamilton College, a liberal arts college in Clinton, NY. And a Magnolia resident recently created a special recognition plaque at Whitman College in Walla Walla, her alma mater.
Hathaway Burden, a junior majoring in Hispanic studies and world politics at Hamilton, and a graduate of the University Preparatory Academy, was named to the dean's list at the college for the 2008 spring semester managing a grade point average of 90 or above.
Fellow Hamilton student, Drew Linsley, was one of 19 students elected as an associate member of the college chapter of Sigma Xi, the scientific research society. Linsley was a senior majoring in psychology and a graduate of James A. Garfield High School. He graduated with a bachelor of arts degree during commencement exercises in late Spring.
Closer to home at Whitman College, Magnolia resident Janet Halton-Ames, who graduated from the college in 1958 recently created a space there to honor those alumni, students, faculty and staff who have "touched our lives."
A plaque installed near the college's park-like Cordiner Glen designates the surrounding area as a place for alumni and others to gather and remember fallen friends.
Halton-Ames and classmates just celebrated their 50th class reunion.[[In-content Ad]]
