The dance/art installation work, choreographed by producing artistic director Daniel Wilkins, will feature LED lights attached to the dancers, green-screen cinematography project the dancers from the stage onto the surrounding walls and other film effects that will interact with the dancers.
DASSdance’s signature “All-Terrain Dance” style “pushes the physical boundaries of motion, drawing from the fluidity of modern dance to the architecture and line of ballet, the rhythm of jazz and hip-hop to the pure agility of various sports,” Wilkins explained.
“I want to immerse the audience in a place of wonder, entertainment and fantasy,” Wilkins said. “When you create art there should be a puzzle to solve or a message to relate. I want people walking out of the theater feeling up-lifted, clear and generous.”
The shows will start at 8 p.m. on Sept. 20 and 7 p.m. on Sept. 21. The opening-night gala will start at 7 p.m. on Sept. 20. Admission to both shows is free, but donations will be taken.
