Choirs to audition new members

Northwest Boychoir and Vocalpoint! Seattle are holding new-member auditions for fall enrollment in the Northwest Boychoir and for Vocalpoint! Seattle’s Girls Prep music and vocal training program. The auditions will take place at the University Heights Center (5031 University Way N.E.) on Saturday, May 31.

Boys entering first through fourth grades in the fall (currently in kindergarten through third grades) are eligible for Northwest Boychoir.

Girls entering seventh or eighth grade in the fall (currently in sixth or seventh grade), with strong music talent, are eligible.

Auditions are by appointment only. New classes will begin in September.

Audition appointments are scheduled through the Northwest Choirs office by calling 206-524-3234 or emailing nwc@northwestchoirs.org. Auditions are low-key and private; parents are strongly encouraged to be present.

Founded in 1974, the Northwest Boychoir enrolls about 150 young singers annually in five levels of training choirs, done in small classes with focused instruction.

Girls Prep is a two-year program that focuses on sight singing, ear training, rhythm skills and ensemble and lead singing. Successful graduates of Girls Prep move into Vocalpoint! Seattle, an ensemble of high-school-aged students with an emphasis on the performance of rock ’n’ roll music and classical choral repertoire.
