#From 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, the Seattle Japanese Garden (1075 Lake Washington Blvd. E.) will once again light up lanterns, luminaries and floating boats to welcome the autumn full moon, in keeping with the Japanese tradition of O-tsukimi moon viewing.
#The community is invited to this once-a-year event that will take place after-hours in the garden. The sounds of shakuhachi and koto played by James Jennings, Marcia Takamura and Chigusa Kitai will accompany visitors as they stroll along candle-lit paths.
#Performances also include traditional Japanese dances by the Fujima Fujimine Dance Ensemble and evocative movement art by Kogut Butoh.
#Haiku Northwest will return to host a popular poetry-writing contest.
#Visitors can get a special look at the rising moon through telescopes provided by the Seattle Astronomical Society.
#Three traditional Japanese tea ceremonies, led by Tankokai, will take place in the Shoseian Teahouse in the garden.
