Seattle libraries to close for in-service days

Each branch of The Seattle Public Library will close for one day in late September or early October for in-service days so staff members can review the library’s strategic plan, service priorities and goals for serving patrons.

In past years, the entire system closed for a single in-service day. This year, closures will rotate so there will always be libraries open in most areas of the city. The Central Library (1000 Fourth Ave.) will remain open throughout.

The following libraries will close:

•Wednesday, Sept. 24 — Broadview (12755 Greenwood Ave. N.), Green Lake (7364 E. Green Lake Drive N.), Greenwood (8016 Greenwood Ave. N.) and Wallingford (1501 N. 45th St.);

•Thursday, Sept. 25 — Beacon Hill (2821 Beacon Ave. S.), International District/Chinatown (713 Eighth Ave. S.), NewHolly (7058 32nd Ave. S.) and Rainier Beach (9125 Rainier Ave. S.);

•Wednesday, Oct. 1 — Capitol Hill (425 Harvard Ave. E.), Douglass-Truth (2300 E. Yesler Way), Madrona-Sally Goldmark (1134 33rd Ave.) and Montlake (2401 24th Ave. E.);

 Thursday, Oct. 2 — Lake City (12501 28th Ave. N.E.), Northeast (6801 35th Ave. N.E.), Northgate (10548 Fifth Ave. N.E.) and University (5009 Roosevelt Way N.E.); and

•Thursday, Oct. 9 — Ballard (5614 22nd Ave. N.W.), Fremont (731 N. 35th St.), Magnolia (2801 34th Ave. W.) and Queen Anne (400 W. Garfield St.).

Book drops will remain open at all locations. No fines will accrue for items returned to branches that are closed for their in-service staff day.
