Team Korey heading to NYC

Fourteen local runners are training hard this fall for the TCS New York City Marathon, dedicating their run to Camp Korey, a SeriousFun Camp founded by actor Paul Newman to empower children and families living with serious and life-altering medical conditions.

Each runner has a personal goal to not only finish the 26.2-mile run but to raise $3,500 or more for the camp.

In addition to the 14 2014 runners, Team Korey has six runners who had to defer their 2013 run.

Local participants include Madison Park’s Tyler Davidson, husband-and-wife team Alexander and Erika Washburn, Matt Hipps, Chris McReynolds (a Camp Korey board member), Scott Sleight and Amy Holmes, as well as Leschi resident Scott Lennard.

The 2014 TCS New York City Marathon will take place on Nov. 2, but the fundraising for each athlete is already under way. Members of Team Korey are reaching out to their local community for sponsorships, donations and support online, in person and through special events.
