State Route 520 will close in one direction this weekend as crews working on the West Approach Bridge North Project continue to demolish parts of the 24th Avenue East overpass in the Montlake neighborhood.
To safely complete this work, crews must close SR 520 lanes directly below the work area.
This closure dovetails with an Interstate 90 weekend closure so that drivers can cross Lake Washington on one bridge or the other, depending on the direction.
All lanes and ramps of westbound SR 520 between 92nd Avenue Northeast and Montlake Boulevard will close from 6 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, to 5 a.m., Monday, Dec. 14. During this closure, eastbound I-90 will reduce to one lane near Rainier Avenue South, then rerouted to the express lanes from 11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, to continue construction of transit and HOV lanes.
