The following are selected reports from the Seattle Police Department. They represent the officers’ accounts of the events described.
MADISON VALLEY: BROKEN WINDOW
A woman returned to her home in the 1600 block of 27th Avenue around 10 p.m. on Jan. 17 to discover that a bedroom window had been smashed out. The incident occurred sometime after 2 p.m.
Nothing appeared to have been rummaged through or missing, though she did find a small dent or a slight hole in a wall, as if someone had kicked it.
The woman wasn’t planning to report the incident, but her landlord recommended she call police so her window could be fixed.
After filing the report, the police officer told her to call back if she discovered that something was missing.
BAD NEIGHBORS
Police responded to a home in the 100 block of 30th Avenue East around 8 p.m. on Jan. 9 to investigate a reported burglary.
One of the residents returned home around 3:30 p.m. that day to find his front door locked but his bedroom door open, when it is usually left closed. Nothing was missing from his bedroom, but many items had been “disturbed.”
Another bedroom had been ransacked, with a tablet computer stolen from a bedside table, while a window had been broken out in yet another bedroom, where other items were stolen or disturbed.
A video-game console and controllers were stolen from another part of the home.
The residents suspect a neighbor, who had previously entered their home illegally and stolen from them.
The residents were to check the surveillance cameras, which may have captured the burglary.
QUICK BURGLARY
Someone broke into a home in the 2600 block of East Madison Street between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Jan. 12, stealing $80 cash and an unspecified number of laptop computers.
The suspect entered by breaking a sliding glass door.
