Madrona to honor neighbors for Neighbor Appreciation Day

The Madrona Community Council will honor community members in recognition of Seattle’s Neighbor Appreciation Day during Madrona’s 20th-annual Neighbor Awards on Feb. 7.

Former Mayor Norm Rice, who first proclaimed Neighbor Appreciation Day in 1995, will present the awards.

Awards will also go to Madrona K-8 students and staff to honor their community spirit.

The event will take place at Madrona K-8 School (1121 33rd Ave.) in the library.

Also, the city’s fire stations will open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for open houses, including Station No. 34 (633 32nd Ave. E.).

Admission is free to both.
