WB SR 520 closing next two Monday nights

A large crane needed to construct the West Approach Bridge North Project will be delivered to the Montlake area beginning at 11 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2. To safely deliver the oversize load along the floating bridge, crews are required to shut down all westbound state Route 520 lanes from 92nd Avenue Northeast to Montlake Boulevard.

All eastbound lanes will remain open during the closure, and the westbound highway will reopen by 5 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3.

A second crane will be delivered the following Monday night to Tuesday morning, requiring an identical closure.

In addition to the highway lane closures, crews also will intermittently close a single northbound lane of Montlake Boulevard weeknights, as early as 7 p.m., throughout February. Timing and locations of the Montlake Boulevard lane closures will depend on construction sequencing. All lanes will be reopened by 6 a.m. the following day.

Also, a single-lane closure on eastbound ramps to and from Montlake Boulevard will take place Monday, Feb. 2, to Thursday, Feb. 5. The ramp lanes will close between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. for drainage-installation work. Cars will still be able to use the ramps, but delays could occur depending on traffic volume.

Single-lane closures on northbound Montlake Boulevard will begin as early as this coming week. These intermittent nighttime closures will allow crews to widen sidewalk, improve pedestrian islands to meet ADA standards and prepare the area near a recently closed Montlake Boulevard bus stop and the now-removed bike lockers for construction of a new westbound off-ramp.
