Spectrum Dance Theater (800 Lake Washington Blvd.) has announced this year’s board of directors and a new school director.
New board members include:
•Josh Labelle — Since 2001, LaBelle has been executive director of Seattle Theatre Group (STG), a nonprofit performing arts organization, overseeing the operations of the historic Paramount, Moore and Neptune theaters.
•Sue Coliton — Coliton serves as the Paul Allen Foundation’s senior fellow. She is the former vice president of the foundation, a position in which she served for 15 years. Prior to joining the Foundation, she was director of the Cultural Facilities Fund and worked in visual arts for GAP and the National Endowment for the Arts.
•Janie Hendrix — Hendrix is president and CEO of Experience Hendrix and Authentic Hendrix. She has served on the Seattle Theatre Group board of directors and was a member of the board of governors of the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Recording Academy. She was instrumental in the creation of the Northwest African American Museum, where she currently serves on the board.
•Shawn Roberts — After 19 years as the founding school and education director of the School of Spectrum Dance Theater, Roberts has now joined the board. Roberts transformed Spectrum’s community-based dance classes into a curriculum-based academy of varied styles, from beginning through pre-professional. She currently serves as the program manager for STG’s Seattle’s Dance for Parkinson’s Program and is a children’s book author.
•Lorna Jordan — An artist, Jordan mixes sculpture, architecture, ecology and theater to create pieces that engage the community with space. Her commissions can be seen in galleries nationwide. She has served on the Seattle Arts Commission as commissioner, vice chair and chair of the Public Arts Committee.
After a national search, Adam Miller was selected to lead the School of Spectrum Dance Theater. Established in 1982, the school reaches more than 500 students annually and offers more than 75 weekly classes to the community.
In addition to a professional dance career at the Pennsylvania Ballet and Pacific Northwest Ballet, Miller has served as artistic director (Cirque de Soleil), agent/ manager (IMG Artists) and board member (Connecticut Dance Alliance).
Miller succeeds Roberts, who currently serves on Spectrum’s board.
