St. Joseph School eighth-grader Alden Lumpkin has been named the Washington state youth lacrosse “Up and Comer” player of the week by the Washington State Chapter of US Lacrosse for the week of April 20.
The 14-year-old from Madison Park was honored after being selected by the Seattle Starz select lacrosse team to its 24-player traveling Elite team.
The squad will travel to tournaments this summer in Bend, Ore., and San Diego prior to taking on the best youth teams on the East Coast over the Fourth of July weekend in Philadelphia.
Lumpkin, who has played lacrosse since the fourth grade for the Seattle Central Wolfpack, was among some 140 Seattle-area youths who tried out for the select team’s two traveling squads.
