Metro Transit on holiday schedule for Thanksgiving

King County Metro Transit buses will operate on Sunday and reduced weekday schedules over the Thanksgiving holiday and during several holiday periods through January, including a full week of reduced service at the end of December.

On Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, Nov. 26), Metro will operate a Sunday schedule. On Friday, Nov. 27, Metro will operate reduced weekday service, which offers more service than on weekends but somewhat less service than on normal weekdays. Details are posted on Metro’s holiday and reduced service page: metro.kingcounty.gov/alerts/holidays.html.

Under a Community Mobility Contract created by County Executive Constantine and funded by voter-approved Prop 1, regular bus service will be provided on Nov. 27 on about three-dozen routes within the City of Seattle that were previously reduced during holiday periods.

Metro offices, including the Customer Information phone line, and Lost and Found and Pass Sales counters, will close on both Thursday and Friday. The Customer Information Office at (206) 553-3000 will reopen Monday morning.

Sunday bus schedules will be in effect on the following holidays:

•Thursday, Nov. 26 (Thanksgiving);

•Friday, Dec. 25 (Christmas); and

•Friday, Jan. 1, 2016 (New Year’s Day).

There will be reduced University of Washington service from Monday, Dec. 21, through Wednesday, Dec. 23, during the school’s winter break.

The reduced weekday schedule and no UW will also be in effect on:

•Friday, Nov. 27 (the day after Thanksgiving);

•Thursday, Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve);

•Monday, Dec. 28, through Thursday, Dec. 31 (winter holiday period);

•Monday, Jan. 18, 2016  (Martin Luther King Jr. Day); and

•Monday, Feb. 15, 2016 (President’s Day).

On days with reduced weekday schedules, some commuter and school-oriented routes do not operate, and other routes have individual trips canceled. Also, Metro makes some adjustments to routes that serve UW. When UW is not in session, there will be some bus trip reductions.
