Collections scheduled for Thursday will occur on Friday, and Friday collections will occur on Saturday. Customers should be sure to have their containers out by 7 a.m. to ensure collection.
Customers can report missed garbage, food and yard waste or recycling collections after 5 p.m. on their scheduled collection day by calling (206) 684-3000 or by going to www.seattle.gov/util and clicking on “Report Missed Collection.”
The City of Seattle’s South Transfer Station (130 S. Kenyon St.) will close on Thanksgiving Day. It will reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 27.
Food waste is not allowed in the garbage. Seattle residents should put all Thanksgiving food waste, including turkey bones and food-soiled paper napkins, in their food- and yard-waste carts.
Property owners are responsible for their side sewer connections to the city’s sewer system. Sewer clogs often happen during the holiday season when fats, oils and grease are poured down the sink drain. Fats, oils and grease should be cooled, poured into covered, disposable containers and thrown in the garbage.
