An outdoor gym of exercise equipment for adults will open in Powell Barnett Park, at the corner of Martin Luther King Way and East Alder Street, at 10 a.m. on April 30.
This free, outdoor Fitness Zone includes a chest/back press, twister, elliptical, ab crunch/leg lifter, cardio stepper, plyometrics and parallel bars.
A brief ceremony at 10 a.m. will be followed by a ribbon-cutting at 10:45 a.m. and an equipment demonstration by neighborhood fitness instructor Rebecca Francis.
The Thrillers dance group will perform works by Michael Jackson at 11:30 a.m.
Also, Group Health will give away and fit helmets to children.
Partners for the Fitness Center include the Powell Barnett Legacy Committee, Leschi Community Council, MOMentum, Trust for Public Lands, Seattle Parks Foundation, Seattle Parks and Recreation.
