Seattle Girls’ School hires new head

Seattle Girls’ School (SGS, 2706 S. Jackson St.) has a new head of school: Brenda Leaks. She will start July 1.

Leaks, currently the Middle School Head at The Overlake School in Redmond, Wash., previously served in the same capacity at Trinity Episcopal School in Texas and taught Spanish at The Baldwin and Shipley School in Pennsylvania.

She is a graduate of an all-women’s college.

Since early this summer, the school’s board conducted a search to recruit the next head of school to lead SGS. The board has now assembled a team to smooth the transition from outgoing head of school Rafael del Castillo, who is leaving to lead The Bertschi School in Capitol Hill, to Leaks.
