LETTER TO THE EDITOR | MPCC still Nextdoor

[Regarding the letter “MPCC needs to rectify Nextdoor situation,” February 2016:] [The] Madison Park Community Council (MPCC) continues community engagement through a network of evolving components. This includes, but is not limited to, the micro-local social media site known as Nextdoor, which serves as a small but growing neighborhood asset.

It is our understanding that Mr. [Reg] Newbeck and other Nextdoor local leads around the country were notified of the aforementioned policy clarification by Nextdoor headquarters on the same timeline as impacted nonprofits and organizations such as MPCC. Hopefully, Mr. Newbeck is also aware that MPCC board members have continued to use Nextdoor to communicate various community events and issues. This has not and will not change.

Engagement, programming and important neighborhood work is born from the ongoing collaborative effort of many community stakeholders. MPCC works hard to gather ideas from local residents and volunteers, business owners, community leaders and managers of high-occupancy residential clusters.

We collaborate with other neighborhood and regional community councils and business associations, elected leaders, government entities and outreach to local school PTAs.

We also receive valuable insight from local community and civil service agencies and work in partnership with nonprofit leaders with vested interests in Madison Park and surrounding neighborhoods.

We welcome and encourage all community participation. If you have positive ideas or want to participate, become a board member or volunteer for a community project, please come to our monthly meetings at the Madison Park Bathhouse (1900 43rd Ave. E.) on the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. or email mpccprez@gmail.com.

Our next board meeting is Monday, March 7. We hope to see you there!
