Celebrate MLK’s legacy on Jan. 18

The Martin Luther King Celebration Committee will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy for the 34th year with a day of workshops, rally and a march on Jan. 18.

Event organizers call the public to continue King’s work on racial equality, economic justice and peace with the theme “We have the power to make change.”

The day of events include workshops for youths at Garfield High School (400 23rd Ave.), from 9:30 to 10:50 a.m.; a rally in the school gym, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and a march to the Jackson Federal Building at Second Avenue and Madison Street in downtown, starting at 12:30 p.m. The march will conclude with another rally, at 1:45 p.m., outside the Jackson Federal Building.
