Windermere Capitol Hill donates to 18 community organizations

Windermere Capitol Hill owner Pat Grimm announced June 17 that the real estate broker had made donations to 18 community organizations via the Windermere Foundation.

“For the past 27 years, the Windermere Foundation has donated a portion of the proceeds from every home purchased or sold towards supporting low-income and homeless families and people at risk in our communities,” Grimm said.

The $54,000 raised by Windermere Real Estate/Capitol Hill to date has benefitted a diverse range of programs and organizations. Windermere Capitol Hill has donated to Amara, which works to place children in foster care with families; Babes Network, a peer education and support program for women living with HIV; Capitol Hill Housing, which builds affordable housing and works to improve the Capitol Hill neighborhood; and the GD Association, a provider of housing for low-income tenants, at-risk teen parent families, the elderly and disabled persons.

Additionally, Windermere Real Estate/Capitol Hill volunteered in the neighborhood on an annual company Community Service Day, held June 3. This year, Windermere employees picked up more than 1,500 pounds of trash throughout the Capitol Hill neighborhood.

“We’re continuing a 30-year tradition of community involvement,” Grimm said. “How we show up matters, and we’re hoping others will follow our lead with neighborhood-enhancing projects in the areas where we live, work and play.”
