Seattle Public Schools is celebrating longtime Garfield High School coach Greg Brashear’s induction into the Washington Interscholastic Activities (WIAA) Hall of Fame. Officially inducted in 2015, the WIAA held their induction ceremony for Coach Brashear in May.

Brashear began his 30-year career with Seattle Public Schools as Garfield High School’s head coach of track and field. His girls teams won eight state championships, including five consecutive championships between 1981 and 1985. In 1986, his girls team finished in second place by only one point. Brashear’s teams also won numerous league titles and were always considered top contenders for the state title.

Brashear still enjoys his work as an assistant in the SPS athletics office.
