The stage is set for Starbucks’ 21st-annual Hot Java Cool Jazz to once again delight Seattle-area jazz fans as the region’s top young musicians come together for a special show at the Paramount Theatre (911 Pine St.). It will take place March 25 at 7 p.m.
All of the ticket sales from the night’s performance will directly benefit the music programs of the five participating high schools, which, this year, includes Garfield and Roosevelt.
Since its inception in 1995, Starbucks Hot Java Cool Jazz has raised more than $450,000 for participating schools’ music programs. The funds help the bands cover competition, equipment and travel costs.
Total ticket sales are split among the performing bands. Last year’s event raised more than $55,000 for local programs.
Last year’s show sold out, so fans are encouraged to buy tickets in advance online at stgpresents.org or surcharge-free at select Starbucks stores. Proceeds from the tickets sold at the Starbucks store closest to each school will go to that school’s music program.
Participating Starbucks include:
•23rd Avenue and South Jackson Street (2300 S. Jackson St.), to benefit Garfield; and
•Roosevelt Square (6417 Roosevelt Way N.E.), to benefit Roosevelt.
