I’m not too sure what latte stand Geov Parrish has been hibernating in for the last 40 years, but he knows little about Jim McDermott (“Exit Sunny Jim,” February 2016).
Rep. McDermott may not have been bellowing on TV and demanding the personal attention that so diminishes current politics, but he was certainly a player in all the anti-nuclear issues and debates over those years. Without him, our state may well have built (and completed) more very dangerous nuclear reactors.
Jim, a physician, also had a lot to do with health policy.
Rather than the limelight, Jim McDermott worked off-stage, in small gatherings of constituents, and was available to help anyone with a good cause who asked him.
Wonderful man and a great Congressman.
