The officer met with the reporting party, who said she had left her house at 7 p.m. and returned at 11:30 p.m. to find her front door had been kicked in. Two officers searched the house, finding no suspects but several rooms in disarray. The resident searched for missing items and said $100,000 of jewelry had gone missing from her bedroom, including antique gold pieces from Iran. She said she had photographs of all the items on file with her insurance company.
An officer also located a fingerprint on an open window which the resident said had not been open previously.

NOT TO PRY, BUT…: At 3:53 p.m., an officer on patrol was called to investigate an attempted burglary at a house in the 1200 block of 37th Ave. E.
The resident said she had left the house at 8:25 a.m. and returned at 3:15 p.m. to find the back door and window damaged. She had cleaners visit during the day and tenants who rented a small house in her backyard. The tenants said they had not seen anything.
The officer photographed pry marks on the rear door, the door frame, a rear window and window frame, consistent with what would be made by a flat pry bar. Entry did not appear to have occurred.

INSIDE THE HOUSE: At 11:37 p.m., multiple police were dispatched to a burglary at an occupied residence on 38th Place East.
One of the homeowners stated she had woken up and begun walking toward her hallway when she heard a voice outside her bedroom followed by the sound of one or more people running out of the house.
Three officers searched the house and found no remaining suspects. Further investigation revealed the unknown persons had obtained entry, unforced, from the unlocked laundry room accessible through the backyard. They had taken a leather Givony handbag, an iPhone 6s and a Canon digital camera.
An attempt to track the iPhone via GPS tracking was unsuccessful. An officer advised the homeowners to obtain the serial numbers of the electronic items to help retrieve them.
