Madison Books pops up for holidays

Madison Books plans to be fully operational sometime in February, but is enjoying a fairly positive reception while its doors remain open for the holidays.

Phinney Books owner Tom Nissley teamed up with Madison Park resident Susan Moseley to bring a bookstore back into the neighborhood.
At this point, it’s still on target to be the first retail space to open in Constance Court at 4118 E. Madison St.

“It’s been wildly enthusiastic actually,” said Madison Books manager James Crossley of the December reception, not only in terms of sales but also encouragement from those who popped in to check out the space. “Already I’ve seen that this is sustainable.”

The standalone bookshelves will be replaced with steel shelves along the walls, and likely an employees-only ladder.

“We’re going to use all the space pretty much up to the ceiling,” he said.

Madison Books was going to popup through Christmas Eve, but Crossley tells MPT it will also reopen Dec. 27-29.

Nissley had originally planned to have the bookstore open in November, and now the hope is to be open in February. The best way to stay apprised of Madison Books updates and events is at madisonbks.com.
