McGilvra Elementary unleashes its inner ‘80s

Over the course of the year the McGilvra PTA has been working hard at organizing their biggest fundraising event in two years. In April, the McGilvra community brought their 80s, with awesome costumes, wicked dance moves and generous hearts.

The contributions that everyone made will be seen next year in our math and reading specialists, art, two tutors, a new school counselor and more!

Thank you to everyone who volunteered with art projects and donated baskets, and to all the faculty who are donating their time through hosting experiences, parties and excursions.

A highlight of the evening was definitely when Madison Park resident and McGilvra parent Tom Skerritt came onstage to present his donated experience, in full and authentic Top Gun flight jacket gear!

Fundraising chairs Elizabeth Fleming and Sabrina Scott managed a dedicated and hard-working team, handling everything from procurements to the dessert dash.

“As I complete the final stretch of my two year term as co-president, one of the most rewarding things about the role is to experience the generous spirit of this community,” said PTA co-president Phoebe Anderson. “And how many different ways and how many different people — students, teachers, staff, families, friends, caregivers, local businesses — contribute time, creativity, gifts, muscle, expertise, you name it, to make McGilvra the wonderful place that it is.”

A special thank you goes to this year’s event sponsors; we couldn’t do it without you: Vito’s, Max Wurzburg Windermere Real Estate and Pacific NW Fertility.
