Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan will serve as vice chair of the United States Conference of Mayors’ Technology and Innovation Task Force.
Durkan was appointed by USCM president Steve Benjamin, who is the mayor of Columbia, South Carolina.
Durkan will join Austin Mayor Steve Adler “to develop a proactive, strategic agenda to help mayors across the country address the potential impacts of technological innovation on their cities,” according to a news release.
“Seattle has always been the city that invents the future and one of the most innovative developers of cutting-edge technology anywhere,” said Durkan in the news release. “Technology is reshaping our nation’s transportation systems, our economy, our workforce, and our security. I look forward to working with Mayor Adler and mayors across the country to use technology to make our cities better, more vibrant, and more inclusive places to live.”
