Prospect Street preserve needs July work party volunteers

Volunteers are needed for a Saturday morning work party from 9 a.m. to noon July 16 at the Prospect Street Preserve street end, just north of the Seattle Tennis Club in Madison Park. Coordinator Octavia Chambliss said weeds are flourishing, and she hopes for a large turnout. People should bring work gloves and a favorite weeding tool if they have any. Other tools will be available. The last work party of the summer will be from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 24. The Prospect Street Preserve project was spearheaded by the late Gene Brandzel, a longtime Madison Park resident and member of the Friends of Street Ends organization. Volunteers are always needed to help maintain the Madison Park nature preserve as well as other Seattle road end parks.
