2007 Poetry Festival

Now in its seventh year, the Seattle Poetry Festival begins on April 20.

This three-day event will feature more than 100 poets, musicians, dancers, theatre performers and visual artists in daytime and nighttime performances at three different Seattle locations.

This year, the festival features a new event featuring Seattle-based hip-hop act Abyssinian Creole in an event combining stage poets and traditional poets. "Poetry Mashup" will take place opening night at Pravda Studios. Daytime events, including workshops, will take place at the Richard Hugo House on 1634 11th Ave between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. On April 22, the event closes with the Seattle Poetry Slam's 2007 Grand Slam at Chop Suey.

The event will feature California's The Suicide Kings and is for adults 21 and older.

Tickets are available through Brown Paper Tickets by visiting www.brownpapertickets or by calling 800-838-3006.
