■ CD release: Roosevelt High School,1410 N.E. 66th St., is among the schools featured on the new CD "KPLU School of Jazz - Volume 3," which releases to the public on April 17.

The CD is the culmination of a high school music mentoring program with jazz professionals.

Participating schools will perform on stage during the CD-release party on April 16 at 7 p.m. at Meany Hall on the University of Washington campus. The CD will be available for sale, along with the previous two years' CDs.

Tickets and CDs are $12 each; all proceeds will benefit the schools' music programs.


■ Poetry contest: The North East Library is sponsoring a National Poetry Month poetry contest through April 30.

Free entry forms are available at the library, 6801 35th Ave. N.E. The library will award first, second and third prizes in adult, teen and children's categories, with three runners-up in each category.

The winners and runners-up will read their poems at an awards ceremony on May 22.

The library will include all submitted poems into a booklet available at the branch.[[In-content Ad]]
