Buy or sell at Thorndyke Plaza to aid students in need

The businesses at Thorndyke Plaza, in the 2800 block of Thorndyke Avenue West, invite all their neighbors to a Sidewalk Sale to benefit schoolchildren in need.

Meet the business owners, socialize with neighbors and enjoy music at the sale on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Artistries in Hair, the Henry Simmons Salon, The Brewhaha and The Fourth R Computer Center are sponsoring the event.

Neighbors are also invited to register for table space for $10 to sell their own items. Registration fees will be donated to a local educational fund for school supplies. Additionally, the sponsoring businesses will be donating their profits from the Sidewalk Sale to the school supply fund. Neighbors attending the event are asked to donate an unopened school supply item at the sale.

Organizers hope this will become an annual event. For more information, contact Artistries in Hair, 285-5566; Henry Simmons Salon, 301-0677; The Brewhaha, 283-2135; or The Fourth R Computer Center, 283-8861.
