City funding available for small businesses

The City of Seattle is now accepting nominations for the annual Mayor's Small Business Awards. Ten small businesses around Seattle will be selected to receive an awarded based on excellence in management, entrepreneurial spirit, customer service and community involvement. 2007 marks the 23rd year of the program, which has recognized more than 220 small businesses.

Last year, the city recognized BizXchange, Great Dog, Marjorie and Second Use Building Materials Inc.

Anyone is welcome to nominate a small business by contacting TinnĂ¡ White at the Office of Economic Development at 684-4008, via e-mail at tinna.white@seattle.gov or online at www.seattle.gov/economicdevelopment.

The Deadline for applications is July 18. Winners will be selected at an awards ceremony at Town Hall on September 13.
