Extension granted for city's bicycle plan

With overwhelming support for the Department of Transportations Bicycle Master Plan, the plan's comment period has been extended until Friday, May 18, from its original deadline of May 4.

The extension will accommodate many individuals who still have not yet commented on the issue of urban biking. Before the plan - which looks to significantly expand Seattle's network of bicycle lanes, increase safety and reduce greenhouse gases - is finalized, citizens can comment and suggest proposals to the already proposed 136-mile addition of bicycle lanes and routes throughout the city.

Comments may be submitted either via email at walkandbike@seattle.gov or by phone at 684-3902. More information about SDOT's Bicycle Master Plan is available online at www.seattle.gov/transportation/bikemaster.htm.
