Howard/Mandville hosts landscape show

As part of the year-long Centennial celebration, the Howard/Mandville Gallery will host a "Love of the Land, Invitational Landscape Show."

Over 100 contemporary landscape paintings will be featured in this special exhibit. Opening May 6 from 5:30 to 8 p.m., the 34 artists from across the United States and Canada in the show include many of the gallery's regular artists and invited guest artists.

The show continues through June 5. "You are invited to discover the profound beauty of nature that these artists are able to bring to life on canvas," says Pat Howard, gallery owner.

The styles of the painters vary widely, from the photo-realism of Denis Milhomme, to the light infused tonalist paintings of Tricia Berg, and the colorful impressionism of Michael Ferguson. Painting mediums will include oil, watercolor, gouache and acrylic.

In addition to the show, the Howard/Mandville Gallery will host several artist workshops, a public lecture by a panel of artists and a "Paint the Town" plein air painting event, featuring many of the artists painting landscapes along the Kirkland waterfront and throughout the downtown area.

For more information and to register for the workshops, call the Howard/Mandville Gallery at (800) 544-4712 or 889-8212 or visit the show on the Web site at www.howardmandville.com.
