Kirkland American Little League was the big winner in this year's Kirkland Little League City Championships. The annual two-day event, a friendly but spirited rivalry with Kirkland National Little League, took place June 18-19 at Everest Park.

The KALL Red Sox won the Majors baseball championship by defeating the KNLL Reds in a thriller, 3-2. The game wasn't decided until the Red Sox pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the sixth and final inning.

In the matchup for third place between the runners-up from each league, the KNLL Diamondbacks edged the KALL Athletics, 5-2.

In Coast baseball, the KALL Athletics earned a 10-6 win over the KNLL Giants. KALL also won the battle for third place as the Rangers dropped the KNLL Red Sox, 16-7.

Winners of baseball district tournaments can then advance to state and regional tournaments and eventually to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa., in August.
