AARP has selected Leschi's Ed and Joan Singler to receive Washington's 2009 AARP Andrus Award for Community Service. The award was formally presented to the Singlers during Washington's Senior Citizens' Foundation Fall Conference on Oct. 30.
AARP Washington selected the Singlers for their service and for the impact they've had on the lives of others and on their community.
Since 1961, when they co-founded the Seattle chapter of the Congress for Racial Equality (CORE), and this past Thanksgiving, when they organized the donation of turkeys to the Pike Place Senior Center.[[In-content Ad]]
