The holidays are definitely here in Columbia City with the downtown core decked with lights and festive window displays.
Arguably the finest way to enjoy the cheery surroundings this year is to attend the final BeatWalk of 2008 on Friday, Dec. 7, from 7-10 p.m. in the Columbia City Historic District along Rainier Avenue South between South Angeline Street and South Hudson.
The musical lineup for Friday's BeatWalk includes the Zydeco Locals, high energy dance music from the Bayou; Correo Aereo featuring passionate sounds from Mexico and beyond; Reggie Garrett playing a new kind of urban acoustic folk; FogLite kicking out old-time bluegrass honky-tonk grooves; Del Rey and Craig Flory playing the unexpected; and the Katy Bourne Duo laying down smooth and sweet jazz.
The cost is $5 for admission to all venues, and kids are free.
