Picnic in the East Precinct takes place every year to provide the business and residential communities to enjoy a day of celebration with the local police. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 30, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Cal Anderson Park (1635 11th Ave.).
New Police Chief Kathleen O’Toole is expected to attend.
The Picnic includes booths hosted by community groups and agencies that engage in crime-prevention activities and/or provide services in the community.
Community members can also enjoy free food, music and an opportunity to interact with many of the Seattle Police Department’s specialty units, such as K-9, Mounted Patrol, Bomb Squad and SWAT.
