Library to host ‘Raising a Philosophical Child’

Jana Mohr Lone, director of the University of Washington Center for Philosophy for Children, will present a workshop on the importance of children’s philosophical thinking and ways to cultivate it from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at the Douglass-Truth Library (2300 E. Yesler Way).

Lone will discuss various children’s books — including those by Arnold Lobel, Leo Lionni, Dr. Seuss, Cynthia Rylant and others — to illuminate ways in which children’s literature can inspire discussions about philosophical questions.

Lone is the author of “The Philosophical Child.”

The program is free and open to the public; registration is not required.
