Arboretum designers featured at this year’s garden show

The Washington Park Arboretum is showcasing its designs at this year’s Northwest Flower & Garden Show.

As one of the region’s top Garden Creators, it is embracing the show-wide “Romance Blossoms” theme among the 23 marquee display gardens, using upward of 50 percent more flowers in bloom.

The Washington Park Arboretum’s “Picture Yourself on Azalea Way” captures the romance of strolling the historic promenade flanked by blooming azaleas, cherry trees and bulbs. This interactive garden rolls out a welcome to visitors: an elevated walkway at the rear of the display leads you to a small clearing in the center of the garden. There, you’ll find “living dresses” — dress forms covered in ornamental plants and fabric — to stand behind and pose with friends or family members.

The 27th-annual Northwest Flower & Garden Show also includes 110 seminars, a marketplace with more than 350 exhibitors and a new Family Farm Center.

The show runs Wednesday, Feb. 11, through Saturday, Feb. 14, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 15, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center. For more information, visit www.gardenshow.com.
