Arboretum Foundation to host new ArbFest July 14

This Bastille Day, July 14, the Arboretum Foundation will launch a new summer party to benefit the Washington Park Arboretum.

Described by the Foundation as “a moveable feast and outdoor adventure,” ArbFest will feature food, music, games and sports in the 230-acre park.

According to foundation spokesperson Niall Dunne, ArbFest replaces the FlorAbundance spring plant sale, cancelled last year due to diminishing revenues.

“ArbFest will be a fun way to enjoy the Arboretum while supporting the operations that keep this free park beautiful and accessible to all,” Foundation Executive Director Paige Miller said.

French inspired cuisine will be offered by St. Clouds, with cocktails from Batch 206 Distillery and wines from Chateau Ste Michelle.

Geocachers will be able to hunt for “treasure”  in the woods with their smart phones.

The Seattle Petanque Club will host games inspired by the French version of bocce ball.

Jazz band Pearl Django has been booked to perform music.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.arboretumfoundation.org at the “patron” level ($175) and the “benefactor” level ($350). Tickets can also be had by calling 206-325-4510. RSVP by July 5.
