Burglar makes his way through the dog door

The following are selected reports from the Seattle Police Department. They represent the officers’ accounts of the events described.

June 3

DAMAGE: Nonresidential property damage was reported in the 2700 block of E. Thomas St.

June 4

HOMICIDE: A premeditated homicide with a gun was investigated on the corner of 27th Avenue and East Spring Street. The case remains open.

BURGLARY: An officer on patrol was dispatched to a residence in the 2200 block of 38th Place East regarding a burglary. The complainant said that the house had been normal when his daughter went to bed at 1:45 a.m. At 6 a.m., waking family members noticed several personal belongings missing from the living room, including backpacks, cash, a cellphone and computer equipment. There were no signs of forced entry, but the house was accessible through a large dog door. A phone was pinged to Sixth Avenue between Spring and Seneca streets. A stolen transaction card had been used at three stores to run up about $1,000 in purchases.

June 13

CARPROWL: A vehicle prowl was reported in the 3400 block of E. Florence Court.

THEFT: A theft was reported in the 1600 block of 33rd Ave.

June 16

THREATS: Threats were reported in the 2700 block of E. Madison St.

June 19

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: An officer was dispatched to a tripped burglar alarm in the 3200 block of E. Morley Way. Upon arriving with a colleague, the officer found a rear glass door had been shattered, apparently by a thrown rock. Inside, the home was normal except for the second-story master bedroom, where a night stand and closet drawers had been opened. Someone had attempted to gain access to a personal safe. The resident said nothing appeared to have been taken. She stated someone had unscrewed the flood light bulbs above the door where entry had been gained. The officer took photos of the damage for evidence.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: An officer on patrol responded to the 1400 block of Newport Way for an attempted burglary. The complainant said an unknown person threw a rock through his window. He said he had come home from Father’s Day activities and gone to bed. About four hours later, at 10:17 a..m, he heard a crashing noise that turned out to be a baseball-sized rock going through the glass panel of an exterior door. A suspect was not seen. Two door mats were stolen.

June 22

BURGLARY: An attempted burglary and property damage were reported at a home in the 2700 block of E. Union St.

FRAUD: Attempted fraud was reported in the 1600 block of 43rd Ave. E.

June 23

BURGLARY: A residential burglary was reported in the 2300 block of 42nd Ave. E.

June 24

 ASSAULT: A nonaggravated assault was reported at the corner of 24th Ave. E. and E. Aloha St.
