Madison Park Community Council votes in Priscilla Flores as treasurer

After going without since last summer, the Madison Park Community Council has brought on a new treasurer.

A quorum of the council’s board of directors unanimously approved Priscilla Ann Flores as treasurer at their regular monthly meeting, held April 3 in the Madison Park beach house.

Flores is a West Seattle resident, but operates a bookkeeping business that has several clients in the Madison Park neighborhood.

“She has a vested interest in the neighborhood,” council president Karen Kane said.

Flores graduated from the University of California Los Angeles with degree in economics in 2005, and has worked in accounting for nearly 20 years. She registered Count Me In, “a boutique bookkeeping firm” for small businesses, in 2015.

Flores discussed her decision to open her own accounting firm when she introduced herself to the council at the April 3 meeting.

“I prefer to work later in the day,” she said. “Mornings are for sipping coffee and the news, and that’s how I like it. So I started my own business.”

Flores replaces former treasurer Doug Berry, who retired from the council in June.

As treasurer, Flores will be in charge of managing a council fund currently in excess of $20,000.

Council funds are used to co-sponsor community events, fund local projects and provide matching funds for grants that could benefit the Madison Park community.
