WSDOT hosting SR-520 Montlake Phase open house on April 17

The Washington State Department of Transportation is inviting the public to an open house addressing the Montlake Phase of the State Route 520 reconstruction project.

The meeting will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, at the Montlake Community Center, 1618 E. Calhoun St.

Construction on the Montlake Phase of SR-520 is expected to start in late 2018, and will include a new Montlake lid and interchange, pedestrian and bicycle land bridge, a new west approach bridge south for eastbound traffic and new transit and high-occupancy vehicle ramps for travel to and from the Montlake lid.

WSDOT reports it will also launch a SR 520 Construction Corner online tool, a draft of which people will be able to test during the open house on April 17.

WSDOT will also provide future SR-520 Program projects information, including a new Portage Bay Bridge, a Roanoke lid, I-5 connections and a bascule bridge over the Montlake Cut.

There is limited parking at the community center, and public transportation options include Metro Bus routes suggested bus routes  43, 48, 255, 257, 311 and 545.
