Assessor's office launches Taxpayer Transparency Tool

The King County Assessor’s Office launched a new website tool that allows property owners to see where their tax dollars go and what impact a levy would have on their bank account.

The Taxpayer Transparency Tool was piloted for an April ballot measure, and will be available for Aug. 7 primary ballot measures, according to a news release. Check out any property with the new tool here.

“Taxpayers have a right to know where their money is going, and what each proposed property tax levy will cost them,” said County Assessor John Wilson in a news release. “Property taxes keep going up.  We need to make sure the public understands why.”

The Taxpayer Transparency Tool is expected to assist the many taxpayers who contact the assessor’s office ahead of each election and provide information quickly, even after business hours.
