UPDATE: The King County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim as 40-year-old Sommith Utpasai of Seattle. The cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma, and the manner is listed as suicide.

A 40-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle in the 1500 block of Lakeside Avenue South in Leschi  around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday


Seattle Fire Department public information officer Kristin Tinsley tells MPT the man was trapped underneath the vehicle when firefighters arrived. The man was extricated, and firefighters began life-saving efforts, but he died at the scene.

The Seattle Police Department reports in a blotter post that a woman driving a Mazda sedan on Lakeside Avenue South struck the man in the road. A drug recognition expert detected no signs of impairment on the part of the driver, according to SPD. The Traffic Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.

Identification of the victim will be handled by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.
